Community & Groups

Book Club is a friendly and informal chance for book lovers and those who want to be, to get together and share in the joy of reading.

We meet in the Church Centre on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 7.30pm. We discuss the book we have read in the previous month, supplied by the local library and share recommendations.

Coffee Connect is a community coffee shop in the centre of Southbourne, offering a delicious selection of teas, coffees and home-made cakes. All drinks are fair trade, and everything is served on a donation basis.

Come and visit: Tuesdays – Thursdays, 9am-12pm. (Closed in August)

Craft Club is a very informal group which meets in St John’s Church Centre, with various lead and free space sessions. There is a small charge to cover  tea, coffee and sometimes materials as well. Any extra costs are notified well in advance.
To speak to someone about the group please contact St John’s office or just call in during any of our sessions.

Film Club meets once a month to enjoy a film together on the big screen, upstairs in the Church Centre. There’s usually a break at halfway and there’s always refreshments and cake.

Each film is carefully chosen and recommended by members, and is open to all. The club meets at 2pm on the 2nd Tuesday of each month, and you are very welcome to come along and join the fun.

Men’s Football happens every Wednesday evening at 8pm on the 4G pitch at Bourne Leisure.

For a few pounds, come and enjoy a friendly but competitive game of around 5-6 a-side with other local guys.

Southbourne Men’s Shed has well-equipped workshops where men can follow a hobby or interest, share skills, work on small individual or community projects, or just enjoy a cuppa in good company.  Now independent, the group was initially setup by men from St John’s Church.
